Patrick Henry Library

Location:	101 Maple Avenue E
Summary:	The Town of Vienna and Fairfax County have partnered on the redevelopment of the library to construct an updated library facility as well as additional public parking in the shared garage. Approximately 50% of the construction funding for the public parking is funded through a grant from the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA).
Requests:	Modifications of Requirement Front Yard- 15 foot front yard setback is required; 10 foot is proposed. Rear Yard- 10 foot rear yard setback is required; 3 foot at the closest point along the rear is proposed. Tree Canopy Coverage- 10% tree canopy at a maturity of 20 years is required; 4% is proposed. 7 existing street trees on Maple Ave E and 4 proposed street trees on Center St S are not included in the calculation. Sec. 15.2-2232 Review The Planning Commission, per Section 15.2-2232 of the Code of Virginia, is tasked with finding whether proposed public buildings are substantially in accord with the Comprehensive Plan.
Update:	October 23, 2023- Fairfax County will meet with the Town Council to review the latest design and reaffirm the Town's participation in the project.
