Vienna Dog Park

Located off Nutley Street at Courthouse Road and Moorefield Road, SW, the Vienna Dog Park provides a fenced, off-leash space for dogs and their handlers to enjoy outdoor recreation.

The park features a five-foot fence, double-gated entry and exit areas, benches, and a stone dust surface. Water is available onsite. Nearby walking trails connect to Fairfax County's Nottoway Park and provide additional opportunities for outdoor recreation.

All dogs must be at least four months old, vaccinated in accordance with Virginia law, and wear a visible dog license.

Rules for General Use

 

  • The dog park is intended for off-leash recreation for dogs, their handlers, and those accompanying handlers only.
  • Park users enter and use the facility at their own risk.
  • Dogs must be attended by their handler at all times. Dogs may not be left unattended within the dog park.
  • Please limit your visit to 90 minutes during peak use periods to allow others to enjoy the facility.
  • The maximum occupancy of the dog park is 20 dogs.
  • Commercial dog training, classes, or organized activities are prohibited unless authorized by the Town.

 

Dog Requirements

  • Dogs must be at least 4 months of age.
  • Dogs must be vaccinated in accordance with Virginia law and wear a visible dog license.
  • Dogs in heat are prohibited.
  • Handlers are limited to two dogs at a time.
  • Dogs must be under the control of their handler at all times.
  • Remove your dog immediately at the first sign of aggression or unsafe behavior. 

Handler Requirements

  • Handlers must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Children under 8 years of age are not permitted inside the dog park. 

 

Safety & Courtesy

  • Scoop the Poop. Pet waste is a health hazard. Failure to remove pet waste may result in a $250 fine.
  • Refresh water bowls frequently to help reduce the spread of illness.
  • Ask a handler before offering treats to another person's dog. Human food is not permitted.
  • Ensure gates are securely latched. One gate must remain closed before opening the other.
  • Help keep the park clean by disposing of trash properly.
  • Be respectful of other users and promptly address disruptive behavior from your dog. 

 

Personal Comfort & Preparedness

  • The dog park is an outdoor recreation facility. Visitors should dress appropriately for weather conditions and plan accordingly.
  • During hot weather, consider bringing water for yourself and your dog, wearing sunscreen and protective clothing, using a hat or umbrella for shade, and limiting outdoor activity during periods of extreme heat.
  • During cold or inclement weather, dress appropriately for the conditions and use caution when surfaces are wet, icy, or muddy. 

 

Park Facilities

  • Only amenities, equipment, and structures installed or authorized by the Town may be used within the dog park.
  • Privately owned structures, fixtures, or other apparatus may not be installed, stored, or left within the park.
