Park Street SE/Locust Street SE
Park and Locust Streets SE Intersection Improvements
The Park and Locust streets intersection provides unique and complex challenges in terms of traffic control and pedestrian safety. It is a high-volume intersection during certain hours of the day, and landscaping surrounding the intersection can block the sight-line for motorists who wish to make a turn onto Park Street SE from Locust Street SE. Often motorists must impede the crosswalk on Locust Street in order to see far enough down Park Street to turn safely, which creates a dangerous situation for pedestrians. The TSC recommended that Council approve construction of a mini roundabout at the intersection of Park and Locust streets. Construction of the mini roundabout is scheduled to begin August 1, 2016.
