Tapawingo Road SW - Walk to Metro
In September 2010, after a public hearing,Town Council authorized applying to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) grant to complete sidewalks on all streets within a one-mile radius of the Vienna MetroRail Station. This is a federal grant to assist in completing projects that are regionally significant and provide transportation options to facilitate the use of mass transit.

This project completes all missing sections of sidewalk on Tapawingo Road SW from Nutley Street to Plum Street. One lane in portions of Tapawingo Road and/or Cottage Street will be periodically closed, and traffic will be managed by flaggers. Also, parallel parking will be closed daily during hours of operation. Access to driveways should not be affected by the construction.

Construction will start on Monday, February 9 2015.
