Harmony Drive SE and Lullaby Lane S Sidewalk Project
The Cunningham Park Elementary School developed a 2011 School Travel Plan after an extensive survey of families with student walkers and input from Fairfax Public Schools and Town staff. The Plan's purpose is to encourage children to walk and bicycle to school; to make bicycling and walking to schools a safer and more appealing transportation alternative, thereby encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle from an early age; and to facilitate the planning, development and implementation of project and activities that will improve safety and reduce traffic, fuel consumption and air pollution in the vicinity of schools.

The Cunningham Park Elementary Travel Plan suggested several projects, with the top priority construction of new sidewalk, ADA ramps and crosswalk on one side of Harmony Drive SW, between Park and Lullaby Lane. During the Public Hearing, Town Council added another top priority, a new sidewalk on the east side of Lullaby Lane SW from Harmony to Tapawingo to provide a route for children all the way to the existing sidewalk on Tapawingo Road. After endorsement by the Vienna Town Council, a VDOT Safe Routes to School grant has been approved for the project.

This project entails construction of a new sidewalk on the north side of Harmony Drive SE, between Park Street SE and Lullaby Lane S. The additional sidewalk construction extends up Lullaby Lane S from Harmony Drive SE to Tapawingo Road SE.
