Window Decorating Competition
Ring in the holidays - and sales - with window design competition

Have you ever seen the elaborate holiday window displays on Fifth Avenue in New York City? The displays are a feast for the eyes!

In an effort to support businesses and encourage residents to shop local, the Town Business Liaison Committee (TBLC) is hosting a holiday window display competition – Vienna-style. Participating businesses don’t have to get as fancy as the New York City Macy’s, but the TBLC is encouraging local merchants to use their imagination and creativity to prepare a holiday display. This year’s theme is simply “holiday.” It’s up to individual businesses as to how simple or elaborate the window designs will be.

Window displays should be in place in time for Small Business Saturday on November 25. Judging will take place on November 26; the winner and five Best in Show finalists will be announced during the Church Street Holiday Stroll Monday, November 27. Photos of the finalists’ and winner’s windows will be shared on the Town’s social media platforms. In addition, Mayor Laurie DiRocco will volunteer an hour of her time as a guest employee and assist the winning business with the holiday rush – and this information, too, will be shared via the Town’s social media.

The window display competition is open to all Town of Vienna storefront businesses. Let the TBLC know that you are participating by Monday, November 20, by sending an email.

Remember to support all Town of Vienna businesses as you plan shopping excursions this upcoming holiday season. Many businesses help contribute to the unique and independent sense of community that makes all of us proud to claim Vienna as our hometown. We hope the window displays will enhance the Vienna shopping experience – and maybe even your business’s bottom line – and add an extra bit of cheer to your holiday season.
