Vienna Theatre Company spring production conjures ‘Blithe Spirit’

April 4, 2018

The Vienna Theatre Company’s spring production of Blithe Spirit will haunt the Vienna Community Center for weekend performances April 20-May 6.

Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 20, 21, 27, 28, May 4, and 5, as well as at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29, and May 6. Tickets are $14 and may be purchased online at or in person at the community center. Any remaining tickets will be available for purchase at the door.

A comic play by Noel Coward, Blithe Spirit chronicles the chaos in novelist Charles Condomine’s life after a hapless psychic accidentally summons the spirit of his late wife. This show marks the theatre company’s full-production return to the Vienna Community Center, which reopened last fall after a two-year renovation and expansion project was completed.

Director Rosemary Hartman is happy to be back “home” and says of Blithe Spirit’s supernatural appeal: “The show is an enjoyable farce comedy for all ages with a dose of ghostly things, a bit of fun, and supernatural elements. Oh, and the audience can look forward to some neat special effects!"
