Nominate a hometown hero

Do you know an individual, group, or business who deserves a pat on the back and a communal “thank you” for volunteer efforts in the Town of Vienna? Help Vienna recognize community-makers by nominating them as an outstanding volunteer – simply complete the form available at viennava.gov/volunteers by March 3.

Volunteers will be recognized during the annual Mayor’s Volunteer Reception at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to individuals and community groups, a local Vienna business also will be recognized during the event for its volunteer efforts to enhance the Vienna community. The Carole Wolfand Community Service Award is presented by the Town Business Liaison Committee.

Carole Wolfand nominations also are due March 3. Submit nominations to Adam Kincaid at adam.kincaid@viennava.gov (please put “Carole Wolfand nomination” as the subject) or at Town Hall, 127 Center Street S. Here’s what you should include:

  • named, address and phone number of nominated business
  • in 200 words, or less, a description of the business's contributions/actions and why you think it deserves to be recognized
  • your name, address, and phone number.

During the 2016 volunteer reception, more than 30 individuals and organizations were honored for generously and enthusiastically giving their time and services to the needs of others. The 2016 honorees were recognized for, among other things, organizing and managing a local food closet; helping out neighbors by shoveling snow, replacing a car battery, or digging up a bush; working in the schools; producing community theater over four decades; and planning, hosting, and providing refreshments for special events.
