2014 Town of Vienna Elections

Posted on April 7, 2014 at 6:13 PM by Kirstyn Barr

“Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting.”
– Franklin D. Roosevelt

Mark your calendars for next Town election, annually occurring on the first Tuesday in May. It takes just a few moments of your time.

Why will this upcoming election be so important? Town Council in past years has been fortunate to experience great continuity, but this election marks a loss of nearly a half century of combined service. Specifically, the devastating passing in February of the beloved Mayor M. Jane Seeman after her year-long battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed in the community and our thoughts and prayers go to her family and friends. In addition, Councilmembers Laurie Genevro Cole and Michael J. Polychrones will not be seeking re-election to office. We wish them well in their future endeavors and thank them for their many years of faithful service.

How can I find out more? Thankfully, candidates stepped forward and have petitioned to be on the ballot for this 2014 election. To become more informed, all citizens are encouraged to read the candidates information in the April Town Newsletter and attend at least one of the candidate forums, sponsored by NARFE April 8, and NEVCA April 22, 2014.

What can I do? It is easy, if you have not done so already, get registered…then, spread the word to neighbors and friends around Town….We hope to see you all at the polls!
