Good News Travels Fast

Posted on September 13, 2013 at 12:39 PM by Kirstyn Barr

Most of you already know that Vienna was ranked #3 on CNN Money Magazine's Best Places to Live in America's best small towns. We are also found among the top for the best places for the rich and single, thanks to our wonderful single population, and one of the top-earning towns in the country.

Those are all great achievements, but the rankings themselves do not define who we are. Reading the article reveals the truly important reasons we all choose to live, work and play here; it is the wonderful quality of life that reaches in all aspects of our existence. One can string together the articles to see they actually found a true sense of our community: “an identity all its own,” “small-town feel,” “unique businesses,” and “harmonizing with one another.”

I would like to highlight a relatively new, but a “Very Vienna” establishment, which perfectly embodies these philosophies: the Vienna Business Association. Celebrating their first year of operation and already boasting a membership roll over one hundred, they are an energetic network of businesses, organizations and citizens that do much, much more.

You will find them partnering with the Town to organize our traditional community events, such as Oktoberfest and the Halloween Parade. They are working to establish a fun and safe New Year’s Eve tradition, First Night. Also, look for the Go Local, Shop Vienna! and Vienna Business Saturday initiatives as a way to further support our businesses around Town.

The next time you enjoy an event or are pleased with an experience from Vienna Business Association members around Town, be sure to thank them for their contributions to make Vienna one of America’s best small towns.

Vice Mayor, Vienna Town Council
