I Believe the Children are Our Future

Posted on October 9, 2012 at 9:16 AM by Kirstyn Barr

Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

- by Whitney Houston

School has just begun and we should be proud of the strides by the newest members of our community...our children.

Over the years, we have been fortunate to have a multi-generational mix of citizens that enjoy making a home here, most notably adults who grew-up and again choose Vienna as hometown to their own children. It has always been a benefit to have an authentic connection to our past childhoods by carrying the same traditions to most recent generation of our Vienna citizens.

Complementing our nationally recognized schools, children of all ages can look forward to year round program and class offerings and community events such as Oktoberfest, Halloween Parade and Party and Church Street Stroll, just a few of the family favorites which occur in the Fall, sponsored by our Town Parks and Recreation Department. In their spare time, children also can safely frequent the Teen Center, Town Parks and Patrick Henry Library, all conveniently located within the Town. Many additional opportunities are offered to them by community businesses, organizations and persons of all ages (too numerous to mention them all). Thanks to those who freely give of their time and their resources, so that the next era of Vienna can become a better one.

Be sure to listen for our "children's laughter to remind us how we used to be" and to believe in what the future could be. As our youngest citizens model their future by successfully developing their talents as leaders, scholars and athletes, musicians and artists, environmentalists and business persons, we should be thankful that over the years, the Town has been such a supportive place to grow and thrive for every child. In looking into the faces of our children, it is evident that we have a very bright future here in the Town of Vienna.
