5. RENEWAL OF IFB 02-31, PRINTING/ MAILING OF TOWN NEWSLETTER.
/Council will consider renewing the contract with GM Printing for another year, to print and mail the monthly Town of Vienna Newsletter./

6. RESOLUTION FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF BRANCH ROAD S.E.
/Council’s consideration to request the Virginia Department of Transportation to proceed with the final plans, acquisition of easements, contract documents, and bidding for the Branch Road Project. The Town’s matching funds for this project would be two percent (2%) of the total cost./

7. APPROVAL TO PROCEED WITH IMPLEMENTATION OF A WIDE AREA NETWORK OVER EXISTING FIBER-OPTIC CABLING FOR VOICE, DATA, AND VIDEO TRANSMISSION BETWEEN TOWN OWNED BUILDINGS.
/In August of 2003, Cox Communications turned a fiber-optic network over to the Town for its private use. It could be used to network Town buildings, instead of using lines leased from Verizon and other transmission methods./

8. PHONE SYSTEM UPGRADES WITH FIBER-OPTIC NETWORK.
/If the preceding agenda item is approved and the Town implements a Wide Area Network between Town owned buildings, Council will consider purchasing digital phones, enabling the fiber-optic plant for voice transmission, and a fiber-optic network quality test required by Siemens./

9. TRANSPORTATION SAFETY COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION ON CHERRY STREET, S.E. NEAR THE VIENNA COMMUNITY CENTER.
/Council’s consideration of the recommendations of the Transportation Safety Commission to paint yellow stripes on the curved portions of Cherry Street in order to designate the appropriate travel lanes for motorists, and to re-paint the crosswalk./

10. RENEWAL OF IFB 02-29, VIENNA PARKS AND RECREATION QUARTERLY BROCHURE.
/Council’s consideration to renew the contract with Silver Communications for another year, to print four 32 page, color, seasonal brochures./

11. REQUEST AUTHORIZATION TO EXPEND FISCAL YEAR 2003-2004 APPROVED BUDGETED FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $11,905.00 FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL EQUIPMENT FROM A SOLE SOURCE SUPPLIER, ATLANTIC TECHNICAL SALES.
/Atlantic Technical Sales is the only known manufacturer of the compatible signal equipment in the Middle Atlantic Area./

12. REQUEST AUTHORIZATION TO EXPEND FISCAL YEAR 2003-2004 APPROVED BUDGETED FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $5,500.00 FOR SYNCHRO PLUS SIMTRAFFIC 6 SOFTWARE FROM A SOLE SOURCE SUPPLIER, TRAFFICWARE CORPORATION.
/Trafficware Corporation is the only known manufacturer of the software that is compatible with our traffic signals. They are also used by most jurisdictions in our area./

13. AUTHORIZATION FROM COUNCIL FOR A ONE YEAR EXTENSION OF CONTRACT RFP 03-02 FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES WITH WHITMAN, REQUARDT AND ASSOCIATES.
/Council will consider renewing the contract to support projects and activities of the Department of Public Works, on an as needed basis./

14. APPROVAL TO RIDE A FAIRFAX COUNTY CONTRACT FOR A SEWER FLUSHER & SEWER CLEANER PARTS & SERVICE WITH MSC EQUIPMENT, INC.
/Council will consider riding Fairfax County contract number BL01-502388-11A-C for one Flow-Tek Model LJ300C “Lumberjack” Cutter, complete with 8, 10, and 12 inch skids and five sets of chains per pipe size./

15. PROPOSED ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 9, MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC, ARTICLE 1, IN GENERAL, SECTION 9-3, ADOPTION OF STATE LAW, OF THE CODE OF THE TOWN OF VIENNA.
/Each year, the Town must incorporate by reference State changes to the motor vehicle and driving under the influence provisions of the Virginia Code, and this amendment would conform the Town Code with the Virginia State Code./

16. PROPOSED ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10, OFFENSES- MISCELLANEOUS, ARTICLE 4, OFFENSES AGAINST MORALITY AND DECENCY, SECTION 10-34, DRUNKENNESS OR PROFANE SWEARING, OF THE CODE OF THE TOWN OF VIENNA.
/This Proposed Ordinance was considered on May 10, 2004. Council requested to delete language relative to “profanely curse or swear in public” and now plans to approve the revised Ordinance and advertise Notice of Adoption./

17. ADOPTION OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 18, ZONING, ARTICLE 2, DEFINITIONS, OF THE CODE OF THE TOWN OF VIENNA.
/The change would add the words “including, but not limited to, patios and decks” to the definition of the term “structure” under the definitions section of the Town’s Zoning Ordinances./
