MINUTES

Town of Vienna, Virginia
09/28/2006 -- 7:30 p.m.

( Date Posted: January 29, 2007 )

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 with the following members present.
Mary Wilkerson, Chad Bishop, Paul Brown, Janet Beatey and Cathy Salgado.
Absent: Ingrid Rapavy and Francesca Tuazon

The August minutes were approved and seconded as submitted with one correction.
Janet Beatey name was spelled wrong, and Nancy will make the correction.

Cathy talked with Jane Seeman, about the proposed hanging baskets.
She said that Jane was open to the idea. Cathy said we will start with just a few, probably hanging some on Church Street and the Town Green. She said that she has spoken with the lady in Falls Church who is responsible for their baskets and is willing to help the Town of Vienna when the time comes. Cathy will request money for next year’s budget so we can try a few of them.

Mary announced that Ingrid Rapavy term will be up in October and will be stepping down from the commission.

Mary said that she located the CD from last years Halloween Parade and will get in touch with Francesca. Francesca volunteered to get something together for our parade. Mary will follow through with this.

Paul gave an update on the web-site. He said he has the information he was waiting for and has started making changes in his computer at home. Paul has spoken with Craig Griffin in reference to the above and said that all future happening, members’ names etc. will be updated on a regular basis, which he will do on a monthly basis. It will be integrated with the Town of Vienna homepage.
Janet volunteered to take the digital pictures for the web-site. Mary told Janet that she will e-mail the pictures that were taken over the past months.
Mary said we should have a link for beauty award nominations. Cathy said a while back she made a form that people can use for beauty award nominations. She will get it to Mary.

Cathy talked about our upcoming clean-up day on November 4th. She said the dedication
of the Sarah Walker Mercer Park is on the same day, and asked that everyone try and get out and help on the 4th for the clean-up.

At this time Chad reported on his finding for the signboards.
He showed two designs with different colors for the commission review.
Chad explained the dimensions etc. of the two designs. After talking and reviewing the designs, it was moved to submit as discussed tonight, and get it to the council with our recommendations for the new signboards.

Cathy said if council approves and we go forward it would be her advice to use the same company that did our bus shelters.

Mary called for beauty awards. There were no nominations at this time.
She said that everyone who was awarded a certificate came to the council meeting in September to receive them and they particularly liked the outdoor signs the CEC provided them to announce their award.

Cathy told the members that the Town Green is now under construction, and we plan on doing Arbor Day May 13, 2007, and will be planting the town Christmas tree.

Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
