Police Auxiliary

The Town of Vienna established the Vienna Auxiliary Police Unit to support the police department in both operational and administrative sections of the Department. With the assistance of the Auxiliary Police, the Department is able to maximize the availability of its regular police officers to the community. The Auxiliary Police Unit is comprised of non-paid volunteer citizens of the Town of Vienna.

Auxiliary Police Officers have a unique opportunity to participate in the working relationship between our police officers and the community. Auxiliary Police also assist law enforcement officers with their daily duties and special events throughout Vienna. Some of these duties are patrolling businesses, parking enforcement, court liaison, fingerprinting, traffic enforcement and crowd control.

Training is provided to the Auxiliary Police through a police academy. Police vehicle operations, defensive tactics, crime scene procedures and traffic direction are just a few examples of training.
