The transformation into a Vienna Police Officer begins at the
Fairfax County Criminal Justice Academy, located at 14601 Lee Road,
Chantilly, Virginia. Recruits will commute to the facility Monday
through Friday for the 6-month duration of the training. Training
days are 8 hours, and vary between day and evening hours.
Recruits will be trained in a wide range of areas, including Virginia law, report writing, criminal and accident investigation, warrant service, crime prevention, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operations, first aid, and firearms skills. A 75% grade point average must be maintained, while also completing objectives mandated by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. The hours that must be successfully completed are:
